Propolis and its uses

Propolis is a sticky, resinous substance produced by bees from plant resins, such as those found in tree buds and bark. Bees collect these resins and combine them with wax and their own enzymes to create propolis, which they use to seal and protect the hive against external threats, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and other microorganisms.
The color, composition and properties of propolis can vary depending on the region and the plants used by the bees, resulting in different types, such as green propolis, brown propolis and red propolis, each with specific characteristics and distinct benefits.

GREEN PROPOLIS
Produced from the wild rosemary (alecrim-do-campo), a plant native to Brazil, green propolis is rich in bioactive compounds, such as flavonoids and artepillin-C, which give it potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Valued for its ability to strengthen the immune system and for its potential anticancer effects, it is often used in treatments that require a stronger therapeutic effect.

BROWN PROPOLIS
Brown propolis is the most common form of propolis, made from a variety of plant resins collected from different trees and plants. Although its composition varies, it is rich in flavonoids and phenolic acids, offering antibacterial, antifungal and antioxidant properties. It is widely used to strengthen the immune system and treat infections, making it a versatile option for everyday health.
Benefícios da própolis
Several scientific studies indicate the efficiency of the components of the ethanolic extract of propolis, such as: anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity of flavonoids, acids and aromatic esters; antitumor activity of aterpelin-C; antiviral activity of caffeoylquinic acid; antifungal activity attributed to the flavonoid pinocembrin; antioxidative activity of flavonoids and phenolic acids; among others. Propolis has also been successfully used in the treatment of:
-
Stress (physical and mental fatigue)
-
Nervous diseases
-
Diseases of old age
-
Gastritis and ulcers
